Some Facts to Consider
According to the 2000 U.S. Census, the 10 most commonly spoken languages in California, by percentage of population usage, are:
English………………..60.5%
Spanish……………….25.8%
Chinese…………………2.6%
Tagalog…………………2.0%
Vietnamese…………….1.3%
Korean………………….0.9%
Armenian……………….0.5%
Japanese……………….0.5%
Persian………………….0.5%
German…………………0.5%
French is 11th.
The census also found that more than 40 percent of Californians speak a language other than English at home. A subsequent study by the Davis Administration catalogued 232 languages and dialects spoken in the state.
(Editor’s Note: It will be interesting to see what changes occur with the results of 2010 survey.)

Won’t be long until we will not understand the person standing next to us which will make life so much better. Just think when a non-English speaking person tells you that you are a stupid pig for wanting them to speak English you will not understand thus lowering in the crime rate because you will not punch them in their non-English speaking chops.
