Catchy Slogan
(Editor’s Note: Part of the budget solution that appears to be getting closer, is for the state to take, at least temporarily, a goodly chunk of money counties and cities receive from gasoline excise taxes deposited in the Highway Users Tax Account, known in Capitol circles as HUTA. The money pays for local public works projects. The state wants to use nearly $1 billion this year to pay transportation-related bond debt, freeing up money in its cash-starved general fund. Locals say 4,000 public works jobs will be lost. The catchy rallying cry being weighed by opponents of the shift resonates well in some parts of the state.)
“Keep Your Hands Off Our HUTA, Legalize Marijuana!”

Don’t forget that a HUTA take is also unconstitutional, like the redevelopment money they are trying to steal. Word is Finance has a “legally questionable” list and HUTA and RDA are on it…not that it will stop the grab, just sayin’.
