Sen. Dean Florez, a Fresno Democrat running for lieutenant governor in 2010, was offended by the GOP governor’s press secretary, Aaron McLear, who previously chided the Legislature for debating measures to create a state blueberry commission, redefine honey and regulate the purity of pomegranate juice rather than fix the budget mess. McLear insulted agriculture, Florez said.
