(Editor’s Note: In 2008, the price of the “Ultimate” package was $70,000. Each of the other options were $5,000 more than they are in 2011. As the invitation notes, this is the 14th annual Speaker’s Cup, underwritten this year by AT&T — just as it has been for the past 13 years. During the 2009-2010 election cycle, the Secretary of State reports AT&T making five “in-kind” payments to Pebble Beach Resorts, beginning in August 2009 and concluding in October 2010 for a total of $205,000. During the previous two-year election cycle — when the “Ultimate” package was $70,000 — AT&T made six “in-kind” payments from October 2007 through July 2008 to Pebble Beach totaling $250,000. During the same two-year period, the company made $505,200 in contributions to the California Republican Party, down from $620,000 in the election cycle that concluded last year.)
