Who Uses Social Media?

Who doesn’t is increasingly the better question.

In one infographic created by Go-Gulf.com, a Dubai website design team, it’s estimated there are more than 2 billion persons online – some 30 percent of the world’s population.

The highest concentrations of users are in North America, Europe and Oceania.

A US Internet user averages 32 hours online. The average in roughly half that for global users.

There are 4 billion YouTube views per day and 1 billion Google searches.

A second infographic examines social networking use.

Facebook had 901 million visits, followed by Twitter with 555 million and Google with 170 million, Go-Gulf.com says.

Of Facebook’s users, 60 percent are men. On the other hand, 57 percent of Twitter users are women.

The average Facebook user spends 405 minutes each month networking, roughly 6.7 hours. Someone on Twitter – 89 minutes. Linkedin, 21 minutes.

More than half of social network users say if they’ve use it to spy on their partners.

Facebook’s age demographics are comparable to Google. Of Google’s users 67 percent are between the age of 13 and 34 For Facebook, it’s 63 percent. However, 35 percent of Google’s users are between the age of 26 and 34 compared to 23 percent for Facebook which beats Google 29 percent to 23 percent in the 18 to 25 age group.

No one 17 years of age or under uses Linkedin. The largest concentration of Linkedin and Twitter users are within 26 to 44 – 56 percent and 57 percent respectively.

Time reports that 51 percent of young adults think Facebook is a fad “although they don’t reveal any plans to stop using it.”
