The State’s “First Green Industry” Wants to Tax Itself — Gov. Brown Lets Them

California’s 44 registered renderers got their wish September 26 as Gov. Jerry Brown signed renderer-sponsored legislation to reimpose on themselves a lapsed $3,000 annual regulatory fee.

A Round of Mango Mojitos on the House: Infusion Is No Longer Rectification!

Gov. Jerry Brown has made California safe for lemoncello lovers and imbibers of Martian Martinis, bacon bourbon, cucumber gin, Bloody Marys tingling with habanero vodka and even Mona Lisa Green Monsters, margaritas infused with medicinal marijuana.

The First Dog Cometh and, Shortly Thereafter, Goeth Away

(Editor’s Note: The chief correspondent of California’s Capitol was recently inside the Governor’s Office, obtaining a new press credential for which, mercifully, an extensive background report is not required. He files this report:)

A Visit to Jerry Brown’s Conference Room — and Its Bookcase

A Visit to Jerry Brown’s Conference Room — and Its Bookcase

The first thing a visitor notices in the austere but cheery gubernatorial conference room now occupied by Jerry Brown isn’t the absence of Conan the Barbarian’s sword or the Southwestern art on the walls, it’s the presence of books.

Lots of them.

And an eclectic mix at that.

The second thing is the glorified tan wood picnic table that serves as a conference table.    Read more »
