And how the two state Senate candidates holding fundraisers there yearn for it to be as well.
Sen. Kevin de Leon, a Los Angeles Democrat, wants a minimum of $1,000 to attend his 5:30 to 7:30 pm fundraiser at the restaurant.    Read more »
Space is Extremely Limited! This Event Will Sell Out!
According to the Secretary of State, AT&T spent $270,001.43 in 2011 hosting the 14th Annual Speaker’s Cup at Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and The Links at Spanish Bay.
The “Ultimate” package — golf for four for two days — was $60,000.
Apparently, the economy is on the mend because the identical package is $65,000 this year.    Read more »
It’s This Kind of Love the Capitol Missed the Most
The lonely hiatus is finally over.
At last, the grand and glorious day has arrived – the Legislature returns to the Capitol.
It’s been an excruciatingly long four months.
The doldrums of no committee hearings, no press conferences and no windy but pointless floor speeches are finally at an end.

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, a Hesperia Repoublican, founded the largest Minuteman chapter in California in 2005, his official biography says. He “answered the call of his country and joined the fight to secure our borders,” is how the bio puts it.

There are 98 fundraisers scheduled for the remainder of the legislative session, which begins August 15.
That’s 98 — so far.
Critics say lawmakers are shamelessly shaking down well-heeled interest groups at a time when the fate of legislation those groups care about depend on the votes of the contribution-soliciting politicians.    Read more »

Freshman Assemblyman Allan Mansoor, a Republican, is hosting a breakfast in his district at the Costa Mesa Country Club on Friday August 5 to benefit his 2012 re-election campaign.
For a contribution of $3,900, the maximum allowed under state campaign law, two people can attend eight such breakfasts over two years and any other district events Mansoor choses to throw.    Read more »
