California Might be Faltering But Not the Rate of Fundraisers
The new year is young, California faces numerous vexing problems and the legislative fundraisers are already being scheduled.
Just looking at January and February — although invitations for events in March have already been sent — here’s the count so far:

Would That More Fundraisers Showed This Much Creativity
There’s plenty of humor in politics, much of it unintentional.
The prevailing attitude among politicians, at least where their public persona is concerned, appears to be that the people’s business is extremely serious and can only be conducted at the epicenter of a vast, levity-free zone.
All of which makes even more delightful the recently e-mailed fundraiser invitation from Todd and Jennifer Kaufman on behalf of Don Saylor, a candidate for Yolo County supervisor.    Read more »
There Doesn’t Appear to Be Any Let-up Whatsoever
Although the state Legislature is in recess until the beginning of January the quest for campaign contributions certainly isn’t.
Candidates seeking election to the Legislature and lawmakers seeking re-election or higher office have 22 fundraisers scheduled – so far – from October 27 through December 11.
That does not count two Nevada lawmakers — Assembly Majority Leader John Oceguera and Assembly member Lynn Stewart – who are holding a $1,000-a-head event and $500-a-person event, respectively.    Read more »

There’s an embarrassment of golfing opportunities in the next four weeks – provided mainly by legislators seeking campaign contributions.
If golf isn’t a passion there is also fishing, fighting and football although it’s a little late to sign up for Assemblyman Jared Huffman’s Sept. 18 “Striped Bass Fishing in the Delta”, $2,000-a-head fundraiser which starts at 7:00 AM at the Pittsburg Marina.    Read more »
